The US Department of Justice contacted the Eastpointe City Council today, alleging that our voting practices violate the Voting Rights Act of 1965. They allege that our existing system for electing the mebers of the Eastpointe City Council violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, 52 U.S.C. ยง 10301.
