Meetings are held in March, July and December. This board's authority is in the City's Charter. Any member of the City Council can nominate a member, and the member must be confirmed by a majority of the City Council.
The Beautification Commission meets regularly on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at City Hall. The commission's duties are outlined in the City's Ordinances. Meetings of the Board are on the first Monday of the month at City Hall. The Civil Service Board is outlined in the City Charter. The Board has three members, one of which is appointed by the City Council, one member elected by the City's employees, and the third by the two other members of the Commission.
The Construction Board of Appeals is created in Sec. 10-82 of our Ordinances, and members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. This board is to appeal any decisions regarding a property and the International Property Maintenance Code that is currently adopted by the City Council.
The DDA meets quarterly in January, April, July and October on the second Tuesday of the month at 4:00pm at City Hall. Terms are four years. The authority's establishment is outlined in the City's Ordinances, and possible in accordance with Public Act 197 of 1975, as amended. The authority shall consist of eight members and the City Manager, and the City Manager is responsible for nominating the members with subsequent approval by the City Council. Not less than a majority of the members shall be persons having an interest in property located in the downtown district. Not less than one of the members shall be a resident of the downtown district, if the downtown district has 100 or more persons residing within it.

The commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at Berry Manor at 10:00am. The five members are appointed by the City Manager, and terms are five years. The commission is established in the City's Ordinances. The Commission also has its own website.
